“But what am I going to do with my hair?”
This was the first sentence that tumbled out of my mouth when the Lord spoke to my spirit about the World Race. It was not a ” Yes!” or even a “NO!” I think a, ” Are you Crazy God? ” would have been a little more sufficient! The first thing that I could think about was.. my hair… True Story! ( I have short hair that requires monthly relaxers- in which I get done FAITHFULLY!) Somewhere in between my stomach being empty from fasting, my sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and knowing for a fact that I heard the Lord’s voice speak to me; fear, disobedience, and 1000 more questions plagued my heart and mind.
RECKLESS ABANDONMENT.
I first heard about the World Race when my small group leader told us that she was going 3 years ago! At that time, it seemed very interesting, cool maybe, but that was about it… NOTHING I knew I would embark on. Moreover, who dares to leave everything, recklessly abandon my job, my friends, my family, my little house, to travel to 11 countries for 11 months to spread the gospel? We read about it in the Bible, we hear about it on TBN, in magazines, we might even know someone far far away that has done it, but to think this is something that God wanted ME to do.. HELLO FEAR!
After debating with Jesus, some long nights, crying myself to sleep, negative reactions, positive reactions, prayer, and just sitting quiet.. My Hair worries turned into a simple YES! …. and all I could think about was what my Young Adult Pastor and my church have taught and preached about over the last 10 weeks: A disciple lives on Purpose! A disciple is led by the Holy Spirit! A disciple is a SERVANT and is OBEDIENT!
three scriptures came to mind:
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. – Mark 16:5
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. – Matthew 23:11
Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. – Matthew 16:24
I mean I could SERVE in my backyard. I could serve in my church, in Georgia, in my place of employment, anywhere INSIDE the United States of America! “They need you as well Meyuna”. TRUE! Whilst, I will continue to serve these areas before and after; I believe that God has put it in my heart to serve the least and the loss, and this time it starts in 11 different countries for 11 months in 2019!
So…. Meyuna…..WELCOME TO THE WORLD RACE!!
SO, what is the world race??
Stay tuned family and friends!!
xoxo
