Before you plan a welcome home party, allow me to clarify that by home, I don’t mean South Carolina.
This month, I have been reminiscing about my family and friends and all of the traditions we have for Christmas and realizing how truly blessed I am to have them. This is my first Christmas away from home and to be honest, I was feeling rather homesick until I realized what home really was.
By definition, home is a place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of family or household.
Check out what John 14:22-23 has to say about this… “Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
Jesus makes a bold point that He and His Father will come to any person that loves them and they will make their home with him. There it is. That is what I have been experiencing recently – resting and feeling at home in God’s presence because of His Spirit that lives within me.
This Christmas season, I have truly learned that His presence is the best present I can receive.
