There have been so many eye-opening and inspirational moments from this past month that I want to share with all of you. Our team has had the privilege of serving at Breaking Chains ministry in Managua, Nicaragua, which rescues women and girls from a life of sex trafficking and prostitution and providing them with the knowledge to relentlessly pursue after Christ and skills they need to support themselves and their families.

They offer a 90-day program that women will go through for spiritual and emotional healing as well as learning skills for a brighter future. The ages range from 17-49 for the women currently in this and there are anywhere from 15-20 women in this program.

There are also four girls currently living in the house here at the ministry and I would like to share some of their stories. One girl living here just celebrated her 13th birthday and 8.5 months pregnant from a 35 year old man that her mom sold her to. She also has an incurable STD that cannot yet even be treated because the medicine could harm her pregnancy. Two of the other girls are sisters ages 13 and 15 and were in a brothel together and still another girl age 14 was sold by her cousin to an American man living here who thankfully now is in prison. It has been heartbreaking to hear these young girls’ testimonies, but with all that said, it has been one of the most inspirational experiences for me to see the healing that God has been clearly doing in their lives through this ministry.

One of my favorite moments of the World Race thus far has been when our team went with Steven (the director) to the streets to bring them his wife’s famous burritos and simply love on these women and girls currently in a life of prostitution. During this time, we met a 10 year old and her 12 year old sister out there because their mom forces them to every night. The Lord has laid this group of women heavy on my heart and I would like to invite you to be praying for them with me and for them to experience the supernatural love and healing power of Jesus Christ.

The members of my team have each been assigned a different task while here to include: taking care of the babies during the day program, leading crafts for the women, cooking all the meals for the house, and creating a major fundraising video for the ministry. I have enjoyed working in the kitchen with Sara Katherine and Carrie learning some new Nicaraguan recipes that I’m excited to take back to the States and I have also been co-leading crafts with Georgia for the women in the day program.  Needless to say, we have been quite creative with our limited supplies and I’ve loved getting to actually know the women on a deeper level during this time.

All in all, September has been an incredible month of growth for me seeing God work in ways that I have never experienced and being in awe of Him every step of the way. Be on the lookout for another blog soon with more details on what the Lord has been teaching me.
