Might as well blog again while I have the chance.
I am starting my 6th month on the race in Siemreap, Cambodia. We are currently at a guest house waiting for our entire team to heal up completely before leaving for our ministry location which is about an hour outside of town. We have been connected with the Commander of the 4th Division of the Cambodian military, and I hear we’re staying in a camp of tanks.
Yesterday we got to meet with our contact who is a pastor here. He seems tired, kind-hearted, humble, and at peace. We got to attend his church today. There was a guest speaker, so I was sorry we didn’t get to hear the pastor preach, but the sermon was good and the worship was fabulous!
The people here smile politely, but regularly their eyes seem mistrusting. Some areas are sketchy. It’s not really surprising if you consider what they’ve gone through. It’s like they’re prepared to be swindled to not let themselves be taken advantage of again.
I didn’t sleep much on the bus ride here, but I was reminded to pray instead. It seems like there is a lot going on here that we aren’t aware of. I worry about these unknown things because I don’t understand them, but God is always trustworthy.
Here at Greenpark Village Hostel, our room is the color of honeydew. I feel spoiled with the AC, comfy mattress, and time for rest we’ve had this weekend.
It’s even hotter than the Costa Rican jungle here. Please pray we don’t get sick from food, water, or dehydration.
We might be working construction and teaching about Jesus!. We are hosting two younger girls who are on a shorter mission trip. Please pray for strength and safety, and for God to guide our attitudes and interactions.
Thank you for all of your prayers! !!!
Good Night for me & Good Afternoon for you,
Mere
