After Cambodia, we had debrief. It was the hardest time so far on the race. Frankly I was flat and tired and not looking forward to the rest of the race. I finally realized I had been trying to do ministry for our entire team the past month and it was too much. Despite the unpleasantness, I learned a lot about balancing eager responsibility with resting in no more than what God calls me to carry. He keeps teaching me how He actually dislikes it when I pile up good things for myself to do, instead of resting and following Him alone. Deon, my squad coach, reminded me to ignore distraction and focus on my relationship with God and how I want to change by the end of the race. Please keep praying for me!
The best part of debrief was enjoying the presence of Kira (my dear old teammate), Melissa and Gloriel (my refreshing roommates over debrief), and Katie D. (my crazy God-chasing friend (who followed Him out of the race at the end of this past month seven0). It’s cool to see God faithfully provide what I need, when I need it; I don’t even have to realize my need first. God, you’re so good to me!
I cannot wait to share about Vietnam, which was a full month of it’s own, and tell you about Ireland, where I am now! Please pray for internet and computer time, so that can happen, as well as rest and healing from this allergy/cold (I’ve dodged so many sicknesses thus far – I guess it’s about time ;).
Thank you for praying! I sincerely appreciate knowing how to pray for each of you as well; please let me know!
Love,
Mere
