So I gave you a silly teaser on the 20th,

now here is the meaty stuff.  We paid our 200Bs (or Bolivianos, roughly $30) and got geared up for a two hour tour on….

4 WHEELERS!

Yes, we rode 4 wheelers all over the tops of these mountains and yes those are the Andes in the background, and yes I really am that much of a thug that I can look that good posing like that!

It…was…awesome!  The views, the equipment, the 40+ year old man sitting on the back part guiding me through the gear changes.  Which was actually totally helpful as I have never ridden one of these beasts before!

So, we drove a half hour out of La Paz, then got our gear on and they set us up with 4 wheelers.  We then proceeded to ride two hours past little women in traditional clothing and sheep and horses.  I think I love the traditional culture of Bolivia.  The women wear these little hats which cant possibly serve any purpose other than showing where they are from originally because they are far too small to cast any shadow on their faces from the sun.  On our way down actually, there was a little woman out in front of her stone-wall house trimming the mane of her horse.  I mean, seriously, does this sort of stuff still happen?  Yes, yes it does, Meredith.

This woman, though, had on a stiff white straw-like hat because she lives in the mountains so her hat is different that the women who live in the city.

It was glorious weather, and totally surreal as I was 4 wheeling about I had to keep telling myself, “Meredith, you are in Bolivia.  You are 4 wheeling in the mountains of Bolivia.  And Meredith, those are the Andes Mountains.”  AEIIIII!  Is this my life?
