June 29th: Migowi Testimony Part Two (hang in there, it’s long but SO exciting!)

Our contact Duncan had some debts recently come to light.  He had not received bills for 5 months and then they all came at once and were quite expensive.  He was very stressed and did not know where the money would come from.  The Lord did, though, and gave him a dream.  In the dream Duncan was having a conversation with someone who was telling him about how the Lord has always provided for him and that this time would not be any different.  Duncan woke in the morning feeling a little better, but was still concerned.  Soon after he was awake, a man came to front gate.  Duncan went out to talk with him and the man gave him a large sum of money telling Duncan, “I don’t know why, but I think the Lord wants you to have this.”

It was not the total sum, but was a substantial amount.  Praise Jehovah Jireh (means: the Lord provides)

At church the miracles continued!

After service three people remained and were asking us for prayer.  Michelle and I spent time with each one to hear what was going on and pray for them.

First was a woman who could not move her shoulder.  She was having needle-like pains and it was very stiff.  We laid hands on her and prayed in faith that the Lord wanted to touch and heal her.  When we finished about 2 minutes later our interpreter had left.  I made the mistake of asking, “How does it feel?”  For she began to ramble on excitedly in Chichewa.  We went outside for the translator and she told me how the stiffness was gone.  There was still a little pain, but she could move her arm.  The Lord had healed her!

Second was a woman with a choleric baby and an intense migraine.  Again Michelle and I laid hands on the baby and prayed knowing that the Lord will heal her little body.  Then we placed hands on the mother’s head and prayed for her.  By the time we finished, less than one minute later, she said, “the pain is gone. The Lord has healed me! Amen!”

Third was a precious old man who always helps out at church.  He is very kind and has a caring smile.  He said that first his left leg had been in intense pain, and then it switched to his right.  As he was talking I heard** the Lord tell me that the problem was in his back.  I asked him if we could pray for his back and he agreed but also asked that we pray for his leg.  As we prayed, I felt sure he had been healed and began to pray for him to share the testimony of the Lord healing him.  When we finished, he gingerly touched his right leg to the ground, “I think it feels bettah.” He looked questioningly at me.  We both knew he would need to stand up to know if he was healed.  I took his arm and helped him up.  He put his foot on the ground, then pressed firmly.  With eyes glowing he looked up at me, “The pain is gone. I am healed. Amen.”  There was no shouting or tears, simply an old man with a big God.  He then assured me, “I will go tell how the Lord heals.”

Praise the Father of Lights who does not change like the shifting shadows.  He truly is the same yesterday as He is today.  Just as He healed in the Bible, so He heals now.

**To clarify, hearing the Lord can look infinitely different.  Some people say they hear an audible voice, others say they get an impression of what he is saying… here is a very short, uber-abridged list of examples of hearing the Lord: audible voice, impressions, image like a photograph, image like a movie, seeing actual words, burning bushes, dreams, seeing the Lord and hearing Him, hearing the Lord’s message through an angel, through other people…. I love that we have no understanding of the ways the Lord can speak to us.  He is far too awesome for us to put limits on.
