Father, you are so faithful, wonderful, and powerful to me. I praise you for the testimony you have given us. The wonders and the working of your Holy Spirit are so awesome. My heart feels light when consumed by your power!
At the Saturday night SCOM meeting, there was a tangible presence of the Holy Spirit. Thoko Seure was first to respond. He felt God has been calling him to something and it was made clear through the talk this night about the “end times.” End times is a phrase that comes from the book of Revelation about how Christ will one day soon return and the time to choose Jesus is at hand. Thoko feels he needs to share the love of Jesus with his community; he is 19. During this meeting Pastor Duncan called me forward to pray for Thoko and the Lord began to direct my prayers in some pretty powerful ways. I did not know the relevance of my prayers, but Thoko later confirmed that he had been asking and praying about everything I spoke to him. Things such as: he is entering a time of patient preparation before he will become a teacher of the Word; he needs to surround himself with people who know Jesus because as we pursue Jesus more, Satan pursues us more; and authority is earned not requested. All of these are things he had been praying about for over 2 years and the Lord spoke to him through me that night.
Then, another miracle happened.
I do not speak Chichewa (as much as I like to think I can try) and in the middle of praying for Thoko an amazing thing happened. All the rest of the students, about 40 of them, were singing in Chichewa, and suddenly I looked up. It was the strangest thing, they were all singing in English. I heard them sing, “The Lord has saved my life from Satan. Praise his name.” So strong were the words that I began to pray them over Thoko, they were words of freedom from his old life because he has been saved from Satan. I thought it odd that they were singing in English as I had never heard them do it before. I found out later, it was not English. For some reason, the Lord opened my ears and I heard every word loud and clear in English. Did you get that? They were singing in Chichewa! I laugh out loud to myself even as I type this. I confirmed the lyrics with the song leader after the
meeting and he assured me that they sang no songs in English that night. What!??
The only thing I can think of is that the Lord wanted me to pray those things over Thoko so He opened my ears to their language. I love to let God roam free outside my boxes and even when I think He is free suddenly something like this happens and the lid of the box I didn’t think He was in is blown off. There is no limit to what the Lord can do.
Amen!
