“We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born with the Manifest Glory of God Within Us… As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Nelson Mandela
“You cannot love a person from a false self. You cannot love another while you are still hiding. How can you lead them to freedom while you remain a captive?… It takes courage to live from the heart.”
From Waking the Dead, John Eldridge pg. 88
I have heard many times this year that I am brave for leaving the world I knew and the people I love to serve the Lord. Deep in my heart I am not brave. If anything, I am ending this year broken. I don’t have pictures to post or a video to show you of this, but please read on.
I posted a blog a while back called Throwin’ Love Around and what a lesson that was. To let love free from the bondage of insecurity and past bitterness that I used as my lens for love. The realization that freedom comes from loving freely was only the beginning of the lesson.
The next step was far more difficult than I ever could have foreseen.
