My name is Melody Smith and I am 25 years old.  I’m from a little town East of Cincinnati, Ohio.  I graduated from the University of Cincinnati 2.5 years ago with a double major in Spanish and Anthropology, then completed a Master’s degree in Spanish Literature.  Since then, I have been the youth and children’s pastor at the church that I’ve grown up in.

I have the best family in the world.  I am extremely close to my mom, dad, older brother, and precious nephew.  We all sincerely love to be together, and no one can make me laugh like they do!  I am also blessed to have a large and close extended family full of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

My parents raised me to love and honor God.  Some of my earliest memories are of my parents praying with me when they tucked me into bed each night.  I grew up going to church and Sunday school, church camps in the summer, and youth group when I was in jr high and high school.  My youth pastor invested so much into my life by stirring a passion for Jesus and helping me believe that God can use me to do great things.

I love to sing and worship God.  Nothing moves my heart like a good worship song.  I’m so thankful that God created music as a beautiful way to interact with Him.  My parents must have been hearing God right when they named me Melody Joy.  😉

I am also part fish.  As soon as I could walk my mom put me in swim lessons at the local YMCA; then when swim lessons were completed, I was signed up for the swim team.  I grew up in the pool, spending countless hours at practices and meets, but I loved every second of it.  I continued swimming through elementary, high school, and college.   Competing at the college level was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in my life.  Not to mention it paid for most of my tuition.  Thank you Jesus!

I also have a wonderful boyfriend named Tony.  We’ve been friends since we were seven.  We love worshiping God and being silly together.

And I can’t finish without introducing my little dog, Tito (also affectionately known as Burrito).  He’s a rescue dog and we think he’s part chihuahua and part Italian greyhound.  His favorite thing to do is cuddle with his mommy.

That’s a little bit about me.  I’m sure you’ll get to know me better as you keep reading my blogs.
