So lets see I left off last with teaching the kids
Its hard to explain all that I really loved about Cambodia.
I already told you my love for the bike rides and the views and the way the sky would be reflected in all of water collected in pot holes and the water buffalo (I really love water buffalo AND for the first time saw a baby water buffalo can you picture it? all fuzzy and its legs all of a 1/4 of its height and stumbling everywhere! It was the first and hopefully last time I’ve squealed like a girl)
But I also loved the biblestudy we would do for the chief. The young adults that ran the place we were volunteering at visit the village every week. While I’m not entirely sure how/why they started visiting in the first place they have really taken this village and the people to heart. Because of them consistently coming alongside these people helping with harvest, ministering to the sick, driving some to the hospital and doing biblestudies the chief has come to be a christian along with several women. We had the privilege to come and prepare the biblestudies and do home visits.
I had the terrifying privilege of doing the first biblestudy. The chief is one of my favorite parts about our ministry. I wish I had a picture of him but the one day I brought my camera he was too sick. But he looked like a Cambodian version of my Paw Paw Haskin. Carrying his age with grace and humor shining out of his eyes. My biblestudy was a meander through Gods’ strength being better in our weakness and His plans being more than mine and how we come to know the Lord better and the story of David and Goliath. Something that has never ceased to cause me to pause is the moment I ask the question “Have you ever heard of …..” and fill the blank with a story I have known all my life and get the answer “No”. This man had never heard the story of David and Goliath. So we spent a little bit of time talking about them and how God used David. I had to remind myself that the biblestudy was only supposed to be an hour or so I just wanted to continue to share stories from the bible give him more knowledge behind his decision to know Christ. He has a bible but He is the chief and the man of the house which leaves him with very little free time and probably small know how to start. He loved us coming to visit, we were on schedule to come every friday of the biblestudy the last week however he invited us to come as often as we could. We went as many times as we could that last week. Please keep him in your prayers if you wouldn’t mind, he has several growths on his hand and foot that have been growing for at least this past year. Also that the Lord will just continue to reveal himself to the chief and through him to all of the people in the village.
