During these last few months, I have wrestled with how to truly process what’s taking place in our culture. Even though it is hard to comprehend, one thing I know for certain – Christ is in all things, in all circumstances. He has never left us. He is with us now. He goes before us.
Recently, I wrote this poem in response to an afternoon walk. I hope it encourages you! May we be compelled to shine His light in all the dark places of life.
Summer Sun
Oh, summer sun, caress our skin and burn the sadness away.
Erase the months of dark and gloomy skies.
Oh, summer sun, give us strength to be present where we stay.
Excite a new love and passion for life.
Oh, summer sun, light the path that stands before us.
We have lingered too long on our own.
Oh, summer sun, we are running towards you. We want to be free!
Looking ahead and learning to let go.
Oh, summer sun, linger long in this season
For we need the light that you give.
Oh, summer sun, let us learn our lesson
We want to be free, we want to truly live!
Oh, summer sun, point us to your Creator!
May His love shine upon our souls.
Oh, summer sun, you have just been an imitator!
We are simply longing for our true home.
Oh, sweet Savior
Oh, gracious God
Heal us. Be near us.
Oh, true Beloved
Oh, faithful Friend
We trust You. We need You.
As we journey towards You, let the light burn brightly; ever brightly leading us home!
Isaiah 60:20:
“Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.”
Daniel 2:22:
“He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.”
I John 1:7:
“But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
