Hello All!

It has been a busy month in Kazakhstan! My team and I had the privilege to teach English, participate in sports activities, and make new friendships along the way! And one of the things I have learned this past month is how to love people in simple ways and finding great joy in the process. So I thought I would share a few “joyful moments” with you!

1. Having dinner with one of our host families.

2. We volunteered with a Special Education classroom and we loved working with these students. They were definitely filled with joy!

3. One of the students enjoyed “playing ball!” It was one of my favorite moments just being outside and joining in an activity that he loved!

4. We were able to teach English and play games with these students. They were so smart and so much fun!

5. Playing soccer with some of the local high school students. Lots of competition and lots of laughter were involved! 😉

6. I was able to give away a book to one of the students I met. She told me it was the first time that she had ever received a book in English. How exciting! 🙂

7. This young girl is so full of life! She is in the process of learning several languages and I was impressed by her tenacity to learn! The Lord encouraged me to give away a necklace I received with the word “See” on it. My prayer is that she will be able to “see” the world and “see” the Creator behind all of it!

Overall, God has been shaping me into a new person through these simple moments. I am learning it’s all about His people and making Him known to His people. So in the small ways, in the simple days, I pray that He is being made known! And I thank the Lord for bringing joy into my life through this daily journey and through the new friends I meet.

Much love and until next time!
Melissa

There’s freedom though you’ve captured me,
I’ve got joy instead of mourning!”
