Sunrises are one of my favorite things and the one thing I will happily hop out of bed for early in the morning. During the summer (and even the winter) I always ask my friends to come see the sunrise in a different spot on Long Island with me. There have been times we’ve woken up at 3am to drive all the way out and there have been times when we’ve woken up at 5am – either way it’s just as special and equally exhausting at the end of it.

So, what better way to end my time in Ecuador than with a sunrise? I asked two of my teammates and my good friend Jacee if they wanted to wake up with me to see it and they each joyfully said yes. We woke up at 5:30am the next morning, made warm cups of tea and walked up to the top of the hill to watch it. It’s funny because when we got up there we realized it was cloudy and couldn’t see the sun at all- the blue in the sky just became lighter. It was still a good morning though. I think sunrises are special not only because you get to see the day beginning and it’s beautiful, but the people you get to share those early morning moments and conversations with make it worth it even when you can’t physically see the sun rising.

I got to reflect on my first two months on the race and thank God for everything he’s shown me during it. I will definitely miss Ecuador and the view of all the city lights (thankfully i have new city lights to look at in Trujillo). Now off to Peru!!

This was the view from the top of the hill at our ministry host. When there aren’t clouds you can see all of the Quito.

Thanks for taking your time to read this 🙂

All my love,
