Tomorrow morning at (hopefully) 5 am, our team will be leaving San Juan to go back to santo Domingo, to then take a bus from Santo Domingo to Gran Guave, Haiti. The overall trip is estimated to take about 17 hours on a bus all the while knowing that there are not enough seats for the amount of people going. Ever since training camp I have gotten use to the idea of sitting on someone’s lap or someone sitting on mine. However, I am thankful that we will have air conditioning. A cool device that we commonly take for granted in the States.Â
So you may wonder what we will be doing in Haiti. Well first off we’re camping out for the month on a beach. No electricity, no kitchen, no amenities that we Americans are commonly used to. We will be roughing it beach bum style! I’m stoked, because here in San Juan we’re nowhere near a beach. As for what we will be doing in Gran Guave, it will be interesting. The list includes building homes, teaching English, working in an orphanage, Â and so on. Can’t wait to go, but be aware that we won’t have access to the internet :OÂ so you may not hear from me for quite awhile.Â
