It’s been a crazy couple of weeks in the life of Melissa Presley! School is now in full swing and my last semester EVER has begun. Over the past couple of weeks God has shown me already how much I need to rely on Him. It is a very exciting time in my life, but there are time when things become overwhelming. Daily I have to seek God and ask for peace because this task He has planned for me is in no way easy.
Philippians 4: 6-7: “6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Some exciting news!!! We recently just found out our soon to be launch dates for the World Race!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!! On June 27th or 28th I will be officially starting this journey!! That is less than 160 days away, woah…. This is a whole couple of weeks sooner than I originally thought, which means that all of our fundraising dates have shifted a little bit.
So…. Fundraising!
Where does all this money go?
OVERALL WR FUND BREAKDOWN
Training Camp – $320 (Covers my cultural training before I leave)
Field Support – $620 (Helps my squad receive supplies, local contacts, etc.)
WR Development Program – $1,860 (Improvements and developments)
Administrative Fees – $2,635 (Paying the staff that makes all of this possible)
World Racer – $10,075

Traveling between continents – $4,235
Food – $1,758

Transportation – $1,005
Long Distance Travel and Misc. – $1,115

*However this does not cover my personal expenses such as, daily money to live on while on the World Race. We live on about $3-$5 per day.*
When are the Deadlines?
MAY 1ST 2015 – $7,500 in my account- 2 weeks before training camp
OCTOBER 1ST 2015- $11,000 in my account – 3 months out on the field
JANUARY 1ST 2016- $16,267 in my account – 6 months out on the field
It takes a Village!
Here is an illustration of how your donation can help chisel away my overall goal of $16,277.
If 135 people donate $10 a month for 1 year I would be fully funded and meet all my deadlines!
Replace a Netflix or Hulu year subscription for a $120 donation.
If 68 people donate $20 a month for 1 year I would be fully funded.
Replace one Starbucks drink every week for a year for a $240 donation.
If 28 people donate $50 a month for 1 year I would be fully funded.
Replace maintaining fake nails or a tanning membership for a $600 donation.
If 14 people donate $100 a month for 1 year I would be fully funded and meet all my deadlines!
Replace a gym membership (anyone’s New Year’s goal…whoops) for a $1200 donation.
As you can see, Netflix is really expensive. 🙂 That, and a monthly donation is a great way to go! You can make a huge impact by donating a little amount each month for the coming year. Don’t forget all donations are tax-deductible.
