Dear Mom,

This year on you birthday I am in Vietnam. Away. It’s hard being away from you today and not being there to give you hugs and spread birthday cheer. So I am writing you this letter. This birthday is another year God has gifted you on this earth. This year you will have so much newness in your life. You are basically limitless because God is with you.

YOU ARE LOVED. Gosh, I can’t even begin to describe to you how much I love you and how much I know Christopher (my brother) loves you. You are seriously the BEST MOM EVER. Other people say that all the time, but I believe it. You give your heart to so many and love so deeply. Sometimes loving that deep hurts and you cry, but your tears are worthy. They are meaningful. They show just how deeply you allow yourself to CARE. Your heart is so BIG and you don’t hold yourself back from everyone you meet. You give it all! There are so many people who are loved by you and who get to see the beauty of your heart.

YOU ARE STRONG. Man, has life tried to knock you down. So many times. But you never allow it. You get back up and you fight. You stand in the midst of the storm letting the rain hit your face because as it falls your body is building the strength to withstand the wind. In the moments you feel the weakest, I see you as the strongest. Your willingness to help others during your own struggles is the definition of strength.

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. I am sorry I don’t tell you that enough. Your beauty is the kind that lights up every room you walk into. People know you radiate light. Your beauty is the kind people cannot buy because it is the beauty of the soul. Your soul has so much beauty in it that you glow. That glow is light coming outside of you. So you SHINE. Bright.

I AM BLESSED. I am so incredibly blessed to be your daughter to have you always surround me with love and prayer. You inspire me to always follow my heart and dreams. To do the daring and take steps to be the best woman God has intended me to be. You are the greatest blessing in my life.

I love you and I am so incredibly encouraged by you. You are so worthy and God has so much for you to come. Hold His hand tightly and walk with Him into the unknown. I am so excited to see you walk in this bravery. I cannot wait to see where God intends to bring you and the ways you will continue to grow over this next year into  the rest of your life. I am so proud to be your daughter.

Love you always and forever.

Your favorite daughter [and child ;)],

Melissa
