We all have personal giants in life that try to stand in our way. The crazy thing about my beginning journey with the World Race is that I have never even left the country. When God first called me to do the World Race the fact that I haven’t traveled outside of the USA borders did not register with me. As we get closer now it’s all I think about. The big world is unknown to me. The unknown is my Goliath.
All my life I have planned every single moment and control has been a safe guard for me. I knew that going into this control would be something that I would struggle with. I like to know what is going to happen and when it is going to happen. The thing about being a World Racer is that nothing is in your control and everything is in control of God. Control is my Goliath.
These couple of weeks in between training camp and launch have been emotional. As we get closer I am realizing I am getting closer to my Goliath. And I get frustrated with myself because I know that God is powerful and that everything will be better when things are in according to His control, but my mind won’t shut it off. I spent a lot of time over this past week in prayer about my giants of the unknown and control.
Then God reminded me that when David faced the giant Goliath, that everyone was afraid of, he never showed apprehension or approached him timidly. David RAN towards Goliath. David knew God was on his side and to face the fear he had to run towards it. So I have to run towards my fears and conquer them.
God has control of everything that will happen in my life, not just what is going to happen on the race. He knows my heart and He knows what I can handle. He will continue to guide my every step, so to give him control I have to give Him my trust. Everything unknown to me is known to God and I have to trust Him. I am running towards Goliath. Will you run towards your Goliath?
“48As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him.49 Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.” ~1 Samuel 17:48-49
