Well I am now settled in good old Bolivia and let me tell you it is giving Peru a run for its money as my favorite country already and I’ve only been here a day and a half but I’ll save all the awesomeness of Bolivia for another blog!  But first I need to officially finish out Peru so for your reading pleasure:

Never Have I Ever Until Peru:

  • slept in my tent for a month
  • taught someone how to make an apple pie who didn't speak English
  • seen dogs just chilling on roofs of buildings
  • stopped at a random school and was allowed in to play games and sing
    songs about Jesus
  • played duck duck goose (pato pato gonso) at least once a week, most
    weeks more
  • watched a movie in a bathroom because it's the quietest room (and
even then we could barely hear it, having holes in the wall for windows has severe disadvantages—including it’s FREEZING AT NIGHT!)
  • Just accepted that most evenings and nights that there would not be any running water for cooking, washing or using the bathroom.
  • missed my mom at 5am because the neighbors were blaring a song she
used to love when I was younger (Spin Doctor's Two Princes)
  • taken an overnight bus.
  • ridden in a mototaxi-they're kind of terrifying and awesome all at
    the same time

Riding in the moto!

  • been so happy to see the ocean. The temperature and view really
reminded me of Maine so I closed my eyes, put my iPod in and thought
of those I loved. It was awesome and much needed
  • played telephone where half the people spoke Spanish and the other
half spoke English, awkward and awesome all at the same time
  • bartered! I needed some gloves and the man said 7 sol but I said no
thanks and instead got them for 5!
  • bought flip flops for $1.44
  • been to Lake Titicaca which is the beautiful beyond words and is the start of the Incan civilization and the highest elevation lake in the world!  You’re jealous.

Lake Titicaca!  So beautiful!

There were lots more but these were the big ones.  Below is a video Jeff made to highlight our month.  Also my hard drive was stolen (lame) with all of my pictures so all these photos are also from Jeff.  He’s kind of incredible with his photo skills!

*I know where I’m going in Eastern Europe!!!  Next month will be Albania (which I’ve never been to) and month 5 will be Romania (which I’m excited to revisit after my trip there with Youth in Mission!)  I have no idea what I'll be done in these countries or even where I'll be specifically but that's ok!
*Our next deadline is Oct 1st and first a shout out to those of you who have given to Lindsay and Lauren!  You are AWESOME!  But they still need more so if you’ve got some change lying around….seriously, lots of people gave me less than $20 and I’m now fully funded, it adds up!
*I love you and miss you all tons!
