So we knew going into this month that we were not going to be pulling any Liam Neeson action adventure moves. As much as we would have loved to bust down some doors that's not what would help long term. So instead we went and showed the love of Christ and told women of other options for their lives. And we prayed. A lot. And through that God gave me a victory. It was small but it was a promise from God that there is hope. There is a light and there is freedom coming to this dark and terrible place!
So our very first day we prayer walked and outside of one bar there was a cage with handcuffs. And I instantly felt sick to my stomach to know some poor woman would be trapped in there dancing to entice men to enter the bar. When another team walked by they saw some small children playing in it which is heartbreaking in a whole new way to think there is a chance those kids could end up in the sex trade. Also, why are kids hanging out outside of bars in the afternoons!?!?!
When we went back the next night there was a woman in there and my heart just broke. So I started praying like crazy that the cage would stand empty from now on. That no woman would be stuck in that real bondage and that would be a sign of times to come when all the women are freed from all types of bondage.
And the rest of the month that cage remained empty.
My new prayer is that the cage would be burned to the ground, utterly destroyed and quickly forgotten.
Sometimes it's the little victories that get me through the race…
