So every World Racer has heard horror stories about travel days. I was fully expecting the trip from Ecuador to Peru to be terrible but because of God and our awesome logistics people (Cory and Nick) it was actually pretty epic! So for your reading pleasure:
65–-the number of hours it took to get from Lago Agrio, Ecuador to Chepen, Peru.
53—the number of hours between my last shower in Ecuador and my first shower in Peru. Sunday we went from Lago to Quito, Ecuador to stay at the hostel owned by Inca Link. We stayed overnight and let me tell you–best.experience.ever. I had a bed for the first time in a month, clean sheets, a real pillow and…A HOT SHOWER!!! Seriously, a hot shower for the first time in a month. I almost died of joy. Also a few of the other teams were there so I got to catch up with people I love! And then Monday and Tuesday were spent traveling so no shower until Wednesday afternoon! It was so cold but at that point I was so gross that it still felt awesome!
32—rough estimate of number of hours spent on busses! It could have been super tragic but I had the best bus buddies ever (including Evan who is the most fun ever!) so it actually was super fun!
4–the number of busses we took! We took a bus from Lago to Quito, another bus from the bus stop to another terminal, then a taxi to the hostel. Then we took another bus to the border of Peru (then walked across the border with all our stuff) and then finally a bus to Chepen. One team had to take ANOTHER bus for 20 EXTRA hours…oh man!
So I left Lago at 12:50pm on Sunday and arrived in Chepen at 6:10am Wednesday. Awesome.
And so far I LOVE Chepen! I love Peru! I'm having a great time and can't wait to share more of the awesomeness!
Also, there is a vlog (video blog) coming but the internet can't load it (it's kind of long like all my stories) but it'll totally be worth it. It's about the time I fought the jungle and the jungle won.
Thanks for all your love and support! Miss you tons!
