I knew the World Race would be coming out with a new video. They were filming our squad in Swaziland. I knew it would be released during my 12 days of blogging. So clever me decided that one of my blog posts would be featuring the video. I’m thinking “sweet, I just have to introduce the video and it’ll be short and a piece of cake.” Then two things happened… One, they went ahead and put the video at the top of my blog (stole my thunder more like it). Who knows how many curious cats out there clicked on it and watched it already. And two, I watched it. Here’s where I feel the need for a disclaimer. It is a beautiful, well made video, that I also happen to not be in. Don’t worry, that’s not why I’m disclaiming, I just don’t want you to be searching for me and not find me. It would kind of be like Where’s Waldo except its Where’s Melissa and I’m not sporting a striped shirt and red hat anywhere in the background. Anyways, disclaimer: this video captures moments from the World Race, perfect moments. I have experienced a few, and am grateful for them. But that is not how it has looked so far…

It doesn’t show people changing poopy diapers. Or picking lice out of a teammates hair. Or eating rice for three weeks straight. Or sitting through interminably long church services in a different language. Or team drama (yikes!). And it doesn’t show 36 hour travel days. Or me running to the bathroom because I’m worried I won’t make it (true story, I’ll just spare you the gruesome details).

I don’t begrudge any of these experiences. But the World Race is not glamorous. It is gritty and difficult, boring at times, and most importantly, worth it. Because at the end of it all, this is exactly where God called me to be. And I would not change that for anything.

So have a look, watch the video. Glimpse the unforgettable moments. And then keep reading my blogs for more of the real ones.

And since I have no idea if the mobile website has the video at the top of blog, here’s a link.
