Of all the random places one finds herself, sitting in an optical lens shop in not where I thought I would find myself. Trying on this whole new moto of mine, seize the day…. capture the moment, and every other cheesy slogan I can think of, I did just that. I walked out the doors of YWAM and headed down the street.
We had prayed as a team earlier that morning. We all expressed how the last 48 hours had affected each one of us. Though we didn’t know what to expect next, we all felt led to head in different directions. Not to say we were not united lol, we just all had different tasks. Steph and Dave again tackled the issue with VietnamVisa and see what exactly went wrong. Benny headed out to research ministry options and send out emails. Lindsay went to the foot of the cross and continued to pray. Jen Den went to buy us our new phone. Me I felt led to ATL a bit on the main street by the YWAM and see what God would lead me to. Though we may not be here for the long haul, I felt like seeing what I could do in the waiting. And though I am still praying of course for the next step, I felt the need to also let tomorrow worry for itself and focus on the here and now of today.
So here I was, tired still hungary and hot. I walked aimlessly praying and waiting. I passed the store three times. The third time the man inside was looking at me and I felt like I should go in. I didn’t know what to say. Both he and his co worker were intriqued as to why I was there. My hope was to find a church BLING told me about. So I asked him if he knew of a church close by. His assistant left and he offered to try to help me. He spoke broken english. He told me his name was Dee. He then began to ask all these questions about why I was here or needed a church. So I told him about my last two days and explained what ATL was. I shared a bit about Jesus and why I wanted to be in his country and what I did last month in Chiang Mai. He asked if I was hungary. I said a little, but that later we would go eat as a team later. He insisted I should eat when he discovered it was after 2 and I had not ate that day. So he ordered me some food and I ate some toast with sugar butter, saved 2 pieces to take back to someone else on the team and he gave me coconut juice and water. I was so blessed by their willingness to serve me and humbled as I took the free meal sitting before me. Matthew 10:42 -And if you give even a cup of water to the least of my followers, you will be rewarded. So as I left that day, I said see you later to a new friend and prayed a blessing on him and his business. (today I went back and we talked more about Jesus, our families and learning english and me Thai)
Later we came back and Jen Den was blessed with a new phone for quite a bit less than the original price. Dave and Steph discovered that we would be getting a refund for some of our expenses. Lindsay rested in the Lord, Benny felt we had some new ideas or options, we had opportunities come up that we can and will pray through and I made a friend and was blessed. I think it was a great day. We ended it with a group movie time, using the YWAM projector. It was like our own private theater. So though we were spit out back into Bangkok and we are not sure what direction we will take, I remain excited and optimistic. God is growing us. He continues to show us His faithfulness. He is seeking out our hearts. We know that we need to be still and wait. We know our hearts must settle. We may not at all understand what or why it all happens. But it really doesn’t matter to me to know why. Benny reminds us that we have much to be thankful for. And I am. I am thankful for this team. I have been blessed with 5 other unique and wonderful people, who constantly bring fresh perspectives and different personality to the team. So please read their blogs and hear a little of their hearts as well.
And as we seek God’s face, we thank you for all the number of prayers, comments on blogs and emails that have flooded in. It is such a blessing to know we are being protected and covered in prayers. More to come as we continue in our search and seek out this little thing called ATL month. Stay tuned………..
