For all I knew we were just hanging out and Benny had planned it all, that was that. Well no not really, because when Benny plans something you’re never sure what to expect. We have been at the YWAM now for a few days. And while they treat us so well, and we are eternally grateful, stir crazy was setting in. It was time to head out. So Benny said, “Be ready by 4:30pm” and very little after that. Oh no a Benny trust me on this moment…lol

I get very excited about surprises. I am not one to try to let the cat out of the bag. I play like I want to know, but really I don’t want to know. I do love to guess at the hundreds of possible things that we could be up to. And while it may seem like that could put too much pressure or expectancy on the event,  I try to think of the most random scenario’s ever mixed with both earth shattering life changing, out of this world experiences, and your worst case scenario’s “Why did I ever sign up for this?” That way if it falls right in the middle hey, you’re ready.

We walked along the road, all I knew was we were heading towards the Tesco Lotus.   Wahoo! Maybe Benny won a shopping spree on a scratch ticket and we had 3 minutes to run around the store. Nope, were hoping a bus. (Oh there bringing out soft serve while we wait) Benny I love you already brother.  Wait did I just hear someone say “Airport.” Ironic thing is I just happen to have my passport in my bag that I grabbed.   So if he really does want to be spontaneous and hop a plane and go with just the clothes on our backs, I am so in. Sorry guys, that will teach you not to walk around without travel documentation ready.

We are now at the airport. Trying to negotiate for a taxi is a rather fun experience. In the end we were walking to Convenient Resort.   Do we even know where it is? No not really, but we can find it.    “Hey let’s just cut through this field. Oh wait your not into crossing that river and hoping that barb wire fence? Where is team Luminous’ sense of adventure? It must be hidden under the hunger that is welling up inside of me.  A taxi it is. How many people can you squeeze into a pink taxi? Enough that you bottom out the poor man’s source of income on the road into the resort. Sorry. We can walk. So I am walking up to the resort. There are cute people on the side of the narrow road, trees and flowers lining our walk, and then it parts, and I see a clear view. Benny is hugging someone.   No!!! What!!! Really? This is my surprise….

Mike and Patti. There they are. In all their wonderful sheer awesomeness.   My adopted parents for the next 11 months of my life. (Mom, dad, Linda, Ron in no way have I replaced you or ever would… I just added some members to the large family we have). For those of you who do not know, Mike and Patti are our squad coaches. But they are so much more than that.   They pour into our lives spiritually, emotionally. They read all of the blogs. All of them! 54 People. And Mike sometimes comments using more than a word and you feel like you got an A. (love you Mike).

I can just say that after the week we all had, spending a night with them was the best surprise a girl could ask for. Mike and Patti is was great seeing you one more time before we wait another 2 months…🙁 And Benny, next time you say trust me… I am in.   I may just live to regret those words.
