It has been a long flight and I am tired and weary. Sleeping has become a little more of just a fleeting hope and I am able to catch some cat naps here and there. Upon leaving my beloved Africa, I thought my heart would break in two, but as the plane lifted off the tarmack, I was filled with excitement and hope for what would come next.
And then we arrived in Europe, the final leg of a long and fruitful journey. The weariness faded and I was wide awake and ready for the bus ride to Ville La Tecii the small community in which we would find ourselves in. I was on the bus chilling when I realized I had no wallet. No credit cards, no license, no nothing. Thank you Jesus for my passport in my pocket. So this unfortunate incident led to one of my most favourite and memorial travel days. I went to the front of the bus to talk to Dave Brown and I never left the front step.
Arrising in front of me was some of the most stunning country side that I had seen on the race. Lush green feilds, farm lands, cobblestone, sheep, sheep and more sheep and mountains. My eyes could not soak in all the beauty that they beheld and my heart yearned to be off that bus and dancing through those feilds. (Somewhat like Maria in the Sound of Music) I began to just worship and praise my God. He sure knew how to decorate the world that he lovingly created.
This is when I come alive, the trees, the greens, the forests and the smells. This is how I experience God the most, and for 7 hours I got to just sit and soak up creation and its splendor. I couldn\’t ask for a greater day, full of appreciation and love for my father, fellowship with good ol\’ Dave Brown and even a little skittles in a box not a bag. Life was good that day. Life is good today.
