At first when I learned that we would be teaching english to a group of Cambodian students, I did not know what that would look like.  I invisioned a class of 30 plus students, and a set lesson plan.  What I did not expect was to be serving in a small learning center off campus, with a class of six Khmer and Korean men, and love love lovin it.
Cambodia has been for me, a time of great joy, rest and fun.  Trust me I needed it.  As you can see through my blogs, life has been interesting, challenging, reflective and really hard, but really good.  But this month I just knew God wanted us to be able to let go, and for us relational luminous folks, finally get to have a litle fun with the people we meet.
Oh and the fun we are having.   After staying at a YWAM base with a few of the teams, we decided to venture out and have our first official alone time.  Dave and Lindsay knew of the Cox family that are serving here.   A wonderful couple, with 3 of the cutest kids you will meet, who just want to bless us.   We really feel a lot of the Lords favor in our lives, as we came here, have a home to share, our own bathrooms, full beds, etc.   Really you don’t know how much this is not normal in third world countries until you live without it in Haiti and then get spoiled in Cambodia.
The most amazing part of Cambodia for me is our students.   We were informed about how they may respond to us at first.  They were maybe going to be shy and ackward.  Or perhaps even scared.  But God moved in on that.   We found a class of friends, both Korean and Khmer who loved each other dearly.  Half the class are Christians, and the two Korean boys work with the owner of the center.   Our classes have been a mix of lessons and day to day things.   On friday we celebrated Gun’s 21st birthday with some cheescake, and his present High School Musical 3.  He was overwhelmed and honoured.  It was enduring to see grown men freak out over a musical.  But despite their age, its their innocent, giggly behaviour that has me rejoicing.  They really bring me more joy than you can know.   Every experience they have is new and exciting.   We are fastinating to them.  They want to spend time with us.
Last night we hosted a party here at the house.   Everyone was able to come out to it.  In true Luminous fashion Settlers was whipped out and more Settler’s fanatics were created.  Benny engaged in some serious “Guess who” while I attemped to teach Long how to play Phase Ten.  We got to Phase one.  LOL.  We laughed and laughed.  It was a beautiful thing to
watch God break down cultural
barriers, and really bring three
uniquely different people groups
together for a night of good clean fun.

And out of it Lindsay was able to invite a student to church.  God is using our friendships to help change lives and speak truth.  It is a beautiful thing.  Once again I find myself wanting to steal them all away and keep them, because you just love them so so much.  I know it is all a God thing.   Only he can make me love them the way they do. But seriously people thick glasses, moppy hair and giggles would make anyone happy.
Our friend Both (that is his name Both)  did indeed come to church with us and Gi Vy.  He liked it and wants to come again.  Please be praying for us, as we witness to our new friends, and help encourage and disciple the 3 Christians in our class. But by far the greatest blessing I have is my team.  If I loved them before I have got to tell you, its more now than you can know.  I love the way we serve together, discover this whole “world race” experience together, and now especially how we laugh together.  I really am blessed with 5 wonderful servants, who strive for deeper, stronger, better, every day of their lives.  Our name fits us, because each one of them brings so much light into every dark place and dark day I am facing.  So this being said… off I go, its time for luminous PJ party and movie night.
