So SURPRISE! I am not in Mozambique where I said I would be going. I am actually hanging in a litle mountain village called Back door. It is just outside of Nelspruit a town close to the border of Mozambique, still in South Africa. God did some funny things as we tried to get ready as a squad to leave South Africa. We were held up at the Betor House for 5 days and in that time we were given a new direction from the Lord, a new refreshing and some healing. It was a time much needed. God litterally closed the door to us for 5 days. We left for our ministries stronger, closer and excited. We are the only team still here in South Africa and while at first it was hard to let go of Mozambique, I was excited to stay close to Kent and Mama Shea who loved us and provided us with a place of refuge, and peace for those 5 nights.
We are still working with IRIS. Jean and Teisa Nicole are our new contacts. And let me tell you they are as good as they come. Welcome and friendly and so willing to love on us, they desire us to have an awesome time and help us in any way. I am blessed to be arround them and learn from their experience here. Originally Teisa was with Heidi Baker in Pemba and they just recently came to Back Door.
What is going on in Back Door you ask? IRIS will very soon open a children’s center that will take in orphaned children in the community and give them a house and a set of parents that will provide a home and a family for them. We are currently staying in one of the houses. We are working on cleaning them up, doing repairs, planting the veggie garden and hopefully decorating the houses a bit. Its a blessing to be a part of making a house a home for children. I am so happy that are team is able to come along side a great couple who love what they do and help take some of the work load off their plates so they can see this take shape and happen. Please pray for them as they select the people who will be parents to these children. Pray for the house to be home, for the children to feel love and to know that our God loves them dearly.
As well as working on the houses, we are teaching at the feeding program, that provides a cooked meal for average 120 people a day 5 days a week. (Huge portions more than this gal can eat and leftovers) Hanging out at the youth events, preaching at the schools, services, volunteering at the preschool, making friends, and loving the one in front of us at any moment of the day. Were also excited to held out on some outreaches. My heart loves this place and the people. God loves this place and its people. Iris has a mission, to stop for the one. It is about the one in front of you. What are you doing to stop for the one? I leave you with this challenge.
