(Twins from the orphange we work with here in Kenya.)

I’ve spent a great deal of time on this trip trying to figure out what miracles and healing is all about. I’ve also spent a great deal of time thinking… how would I ever even explain this to my friends and family back home without them writing me off as crazy. I’ve thought for far too long, “There’s no way they will believe me.” Well, I’m not really into fear of man these days so on the risk of sounding crazy I’m just going to put it all out there. Too many stories are not being shared because of fear of what others think.

These are a few of the things I believe. I’m always willing to talk more about this with anyone. I pray me being crazy and bold may bring a few of you closer to this amazing God, I now know as Abba, Father, Lord, Jesus Christ! Amen.

First- I should make a few things clear. I believe the Holy Spirit is alive and well! I believe gifts that the Bible talks about in 1 Corinthians 12 like prophecy and healing still exist. I believe in miracles… in fact I saw one happen today.

I know without a shadow of doubt that miracles happen everyday… do you? If you saw one would you recognize it? Would you call it a coincidence or karma? Would you be willing to give God the credit or would you try to excuse it away?

Before today I wasn’t brave enough to share it with the world but, as of today, I’ve seen not one, not two, but, THREE healings/miracles happen to people I prayed for.

Healing #1 in Nicaragua a boy living at a children’s home was deaf, we asked via sign language if we could pray to Jesus for him… we prayed… He heard us! Amen!

Healing #2 in Rwanda we were out evangelizing and as we were about to leave… a guy asked us to pray for his throat, he had been sick and it had been bothering him for a while. The next day he came running up to us to tell us he was HEALED and naturally asked us to pray for his finances… I would too! So of course we prayed again.

Healing #3 TODAY in Kenya! We met a 66 year-old woman who had been struggling with numbness in her legs for a long time. She was not able to walk long distances. She had constant pain. We prayed. I asked someone else to help her up. She said, “I don’t need any help,” stood up and started to twist and turn in weird directions. After checking it out and trying to put herself in pain she started jumping up and down. Then, she RAN outside to try it out more. She has been HEALED by our amazing Father in Heaven.

Truth is… I've been surrounded by miracles this whole year.

Why and how God chooses to heal?

Being a nurse this question has plagued me many different times and ways. I’ve been a missionary for 8 months now and I still do not know why God heals some and not others. All I know is…

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.”  -Isaiah 55:8 (niv)

I’m not ever going to figure out how and why God does what He does. (Thank God- He’s way smarter.) There is not a formula that if I pray a certain way people will absolutely always get healed. It’s not that simple, He cares more than that. Plus, I don’t heal God does. His ways are not my ways. His are BETTER! AMEN!
