“Joy wouldn’t feel so good  if it wasn’t for pain.” – 50cent

If you don’t know anything about rapper 50cent…he was shot 9 times in the street and survived. I have never been shot, but I can imagine how intense that pain must feel.

I have experienced quite a bit of pain myself. In fact, the only way I can describe the past 2 years, is God  turning up the furnace to maximum capacity and throwing me in it.

He doesn’t throw me into the heat, because I deserve to be punished or because He doesn’t love me. In fact, its quite the opposite. This is His process of making me into the treasure He has always created me to be.

The word diamond stems from the ancient Greek word adamas, which means “unbreakable“. Most diamonds are formed at high-pressure high-temperature conditions existing in the earth’s mantle.  Diamond hardness depends on its purity. Hardness is higher for flawless diamonds.

Song of Songs 4:7

You’re beautiful from head to toe, my dear love,

beautiful beyond compare, absolutely flawless.

Being thrown into the fire= love, refinement, and beauty. I am so thankful for being in the heat for 2 years, and now… that season is over (praise God!), and this season is so, so sweet. I have been experiencing a peace and a joy like I have never felt before. Life IS a bed of roses, and if it wasn’t for that pain, joy wouldn’t feel so good.

What brings you joy…and was that joy, a result, of a season of pain?
