We were given the amazing opportunity to spend a week in Israel at the beginning of the month! Here are some photos from our time there.

Enjoy!

Overlooking Jerusalem from the Mt. of Olives

Sitting at the Mt. of Olives

Walking down from the Mt. of Olives–the path Jesus would have taken on Palm Sunday!

The Garden of Gethsemane–the place where Jesus prayed the night he was betrayed.

One of the sites believed to be Golgotha where Jesus was crucified.

The Garden tomb–one of two sites believed to be the place where Jesus was buried. And it’s empty!

Inside the tomb.

Yea yea!

The outside wall of Jerusalem. The holes in the wall are bullet holes from the six day war in 1967.

The supposed tomb of King David.

The Western Wall–one of the most holy sites for Jews as this is the only remaining part of the temple.

The prayers in the wall.

The Sea of Galilee. The place where Jesus spent a lot of time during his three years of ministry.

We went on a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee!

This place is called the Primacy of Peter. It is believed to be the place where Jesus made breakfast for his disciples after he rose from the dead and asked Peter three times if he loved him.

The Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus spoke to the crowds. (Matthew 5)

The city of Capernaum–where Jesus spent time during his ministry.

The remains of the synagogue where Jesus cast out a demon in Capernaum.

The remains of Capernaum. Underneath the building is a place that is supposed to be the house of Peter’s mother-in-law whom Jesus healed.

Capernaum sits right on the Sea of Galilee.

This is from Cana where Jesus turned the water into wine. The picture shows a wine jar that was excavated in the site where they believed the wedding in Cana would have happened.

Behind me is the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

The was on the side of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Bethlehem is in the West Bank and is considered part of Palestine.

This was on the Jordan side. The Dead Sea is in the background. The place where I’m standing is the place where Herod’s palace was and the supposed place where John the Baptist was beheaded.

The Dead Sea!

Mt. Nebo–the place where God brought Moses to see the Promise Land.
