10 realities I bet you didn’t know about the Race (and we didn’t know until we got here either!):

  1. You really do eat rice everyday, and bread for that matter

  2. Sometimes ministry means building and being the whole city of Bethlehem for a few nights

  3. It really is possible to go a week without a shower and a month without washing your clothes

  4. Hair cuts are needed, but hair dressers who don’t speak your language sound scary- that’s what teammates are for!

  5. Your limited clothes selection gets boring rather quickly but there are thrift stores all around the worl

  6. The Lord speaks through adventure days just as much as he does through ministry days, especially when it includes mountain

  7. Conversations about poop become normal and happen daily (inconsistent and strange food means a few other things also become inconsistent and strange)

  8. There is nothing more rewarding than only being able to communicate with kids through laughs, soccer balls, and tickles and succeeding in making them smile

  9. You get used to speaking to you friends in English openly whereever you are because the locals don’t understand you (we have all realized that this habit may get us in trouble once we get back home!)

  10. If you’re bold enough you can manage some of the best selfies to exist- like with llamas!
