I got to spend my Christmas in the sweetest way. We wake up to our cooks decorated our tables and got up earlier than usual to make us doughnuts and cinnamon rolls. Our team did a secret Santa and Mallory had me and gave me fuzzy socks, facemasks, and a watermelon lollipop! I had Eva and got her hot chocolate and fuzzy socks! The sweetness and intentionality of the small but super special gifts meant so much. We had a squad secret Santa, followed by powder puff, and a bonfire. I realized how I had been so upset because I figured out that my family is usually altogether only on Christmas and how this year I had been missing that precious time together. However, someone once told me how this Christmas would be my first and last with this squad. I did miss my family but I was really grateful to have a Christmas that looked different. One of my squad mates was talking about how humble it was that the Lord came down in the same exact way that we all did. I’ve always heard people saying how Christmas is more than the gifts but I really got to experience that for myself. It really is just truly getting to be with the people I love so much. Getting to celebrate Jesus birthday and that’s all it really has to be.
