“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

– 1 Corinthians 13:7

Been thinking about love a lot lately. How it comes, goes, stays, exists. I examined my relationships and realized that we tend to run away when the feelings stop. But I don’t think that’s love.

Love is, “I don’t like you right now, but I’m here anyway.” Love is staying. Love is staying when someone hurts you again, and again, and again. Love is patience. Love is respecting personal space. Love is encouragement.  Love is saying that I don’t care how far you’ve gone, it’s never too late to come back. Love is, “I will wait.” Love is sacrificing your own needs and struggles to help fill others up.

Sure, it is often easier to throw in the towel, to find something new and exciting to pour yourself into. But that’s not love. Conditional love, love that leaves when life gets hard, that’s not love at all.
