A few months ago I called my mom while I was a hot mess. Thankfully moms can speak a special language in which they are able to decipher words through sobs. I thought I had a month to raise the remaining $4,000 needed to get to training camp, but was informed I had one week. There was no way I could do this.

The beautiful thing about fundraising is the humility it has taught me. I am fully prepared to dive into the unknown of language barriers, strange diseases, and unsavory sleeping situations for the next year. Asking people for money, however, is far beyond my comfort zone- I’d rather eat crickets for breakfast. But it’s not about me.

Asking friends, family, and strangers for donations is asking them to partner with me to bring healing to a broken world. I’ve begun to see it as an opportunity for others to come with me, to give people an option to reach out and help orphans and widows. I am simply the hands and feet of a multitude of supporters.

So there I sat, sobbing with my mom on the phone, informing God (yes, sometimes I get really petty with God. I’m working on it.) that he was going to have to perform some kind of miracle because there was no way this was going to happen.

As it turns out, the same God who parted the Red Sea, the same God who gave sight to the blind and defeated death is the same God who is with me in my fundraising. In my mind, the financial aspect of the World Race seemed so much bigger than God, but that’s because I was relying on myself to raise the money.

Once I got over my “God, this is ridiculous, yea I know you fed your children in the desert for 40 years, but there’s no way $4,000 in one week is going to happen” spiel, I listened. God simply said to start asking.

Not surprisingly, God provided the exact amount needed on the day of the deadline. God provided $4,000 in one week.

God used so many people to love me in crazy ways over that week, and continually since then. Thank you to everyone who has agreed to walk alongside me in this journey. Thank you for trusting me to represent you as I work this year around the world.

I believe with all my heart and then some God is going to do amazing miracles this year while I’m overseas. But God is not only on the World Race. He is doing an amazing work here first. Trust that the Lord is with you in your everyday mountains. You might not be able to get over them, but the Lord is already above them.

Update: I have 10 days to raise $2,900. I’ve seen God use amazing people to come together and make miracles happen. This one is just a little miracle, but one that I’m excited to see fulfilled. It can’t happen without you!

I am asking with boldness and with love, please consider partnering with me if you haven’t already.

Simply click the “donate” button at the top of the page- and don’t forget to pray! Specifically for this season of fundraising and preparation.
