Here is a belated lessons learned from our month in Bulgaria:
- There is nothing I can do to make God love me more or less. Nothing.
- Nonverbal communication is very important. If you don’t believe me, try giving a sermon in a culture where shaking your head left to right means yes and nodding up and down means no.
- If you’re 20 kilometers from Greece, go. It’s worth it! 🙂
- God is good at providing housing and ministry if you ask him.
- The Sofia public transportation system is amazingly difficult…until you get an updated map.
- Don’t stress. Everything works out in the end.
- Sleeping in 8 different beds in 30 days is draining.
- Learning about a new country, specifically meeting with people just to ask them questions, can be fun.
- Bulgaria is beautiful – one of Europe’s best kept secrets.
- Starbucks abroad is like Starbucks at home…and that makes my heart happy!!
- Putting paint the consistency of water on a ceiling is messy.
- Skype is a wonderful gift.
- If you ask God to break and change you, he will. Brace yourself.
