I think we should celebrate our mothers every day, but I am also grateful for this special day to focus on her and how awesome she is. And since I cannot cook her breakfast from Cambodia, or take her to coffee this afternoon to show her my love, I am dedicating this blog to her.
Following are 10 reasons (not exhaustive) why I think my mom is the best (no offense to other moms….mine is just perfect for me!):
1. She loves Jesus, prays constantly, and helped lay the foundation for my faith.
2. My mom genuinely delights in being a mom to me and I can feel her love.
3. She is hilarious. She can make anything punny. Seriously. I strive to be like her….hehe. 🙂
4. She loves my friends and can hang out in a non-creepy, non-overbearing way…..she’s cool.
5. She’s the best person to go on coffee and shopping dates with – she loves good coffee, has great taste, and hangs clothes back on the hanger after I’ve tried on something. She is also a great roadtrip buddy….really, she is just fun to hang out with.
6. She is creative – a great seamstress (handy for proms and weddings!), painter, decorator, and all around craft genuis. When I was little, I used to think that my mom would be the best employee that Michael’s Crafts has ever seen….and still think that.
7. She is resourceful and thrifty – we were tight growing up, but I didn’t know until I was older. She always worked with my dad to find a way (ask her about my 4th grade trip to the Hopi Reservation – so amazing!).
8. She makes sacrifices with grace….for my dad’s business, my brother and I, her family, etc. She is selfless.
9. My mom listens and always seems to know when I just need to vent and get it out, verses when I need advice and wise words.
10. My mom always encourages, supports, and understands me – I know she believes that I can do anything and it gives me the comfort and strength to at least try.
Bonus: She is going to jump out of a plane with me this summer to commerate our landmark birthdays this year. She’s fearless.
