“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,
though there are not sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:19
My name is Melanie Barber, and I am just me. A girl in love with an amazing God. I grew up in the church but didn’t begin the process of becoming “fully alive” until six years ago. He has wrecked my life in the last six years with His grace and love and has become my source of life.
I grew up in Mechanicstown, Ohio, with wonderful parents. I have been blessed with loving parents who have supported me throughout all the crazy things I have done in my life and will continue to do in this next journey. I have one older sister, Maria, who lives in NC with her husband, B-O-B Bob.
Until I went to college, I lived in the same house all my life and have since only lived in two other places (Ashland and Wooster, OH). Except that I have lived in 6 houses in the last 6 years!! Kinda crazy, but I have become accustomed to tossing and packing. By the way, I have never been out of the state of Ohio for more than two weeks at a time and have never been overseas! Yep, that is the sound of stretching! And did I mention that I hate to be hot?
The Lord completely rearranged my life six years ago, but I have determined that He was heading me towards “greater things than these” for this next part of the journey! My prayer is that the Lord will do whatever He wants to do in me, and the amazing thing about Him is that He will do so with all the love and sweetness in the world.
To my family, friends, and church family, come journey with me across the world as I learn to be His hands and feet in all that I do.
To those who do not know this Jesus that I love so much, come learn about His love with me.
And to those who have gone before me into this race, thank you.
The comforts of this everyday life have left me wanting for more of Him and less of this world that I know.
Random fact about me: I LOVE tractor and truck pulling! Will someone please watch a few for me this season!?
