Well, I made it!! It’s January 9th, and I am still in awe of the fact that I am here. I have been in Atlanta for the past 4 days preparing to leave for this 11 month adventure. After all of the planning, traveling, and bittersweet goodbyes, I am here. Come tomorrow afternoon, my squad and I will be calling El Salvador home for our first month of ministry.
I cannot help but be overwhelmed with gratitude!
It is such a privilege, and so very humbling, to know that God has called me into this life. He is equipping me, moving all around me, and providing more than I need. It is amazing to see that He has created me for His purposes–and this new adventure is just another beginning. I love knowing that He sees good things in me and has good things for me.
I love that He has surrounded me with amazing people who share my passions, yet who are so different from myself. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to spend my year with.
I am beyond grateful for the many many MANY supporters that I have along with me for this ride. From the very beginning of this pre-race process, I have had countless encouragement from family, old friends, new friends, and even people I still don’t know. The long talks, the short talks, the emails, the prayers, the gifts, the financial support–words cannot describe how truly humbling it is to see how many people have invested in me, and in what God is doing through me.
I am leaving the states with over $10,000– 71% funded!! I’m also being continually supported for responsibilities that I am leaving back home. I cannot express how truly thankful and blessed I feel to be showered in such generosity. Every single gift is such a blessing to me and I am beyond grateful to every person who has become a part of this ministry with me. I wouldn’t–and couldn’t–be here without YOU!!
Since my phone is no longer available for calls and texts, the best way to keep in contact with me is through this blog or email [email protected] 🙂 You can also follow the hash: #meltothemundo (Mel to the World)
Here we go!!
