Well, I have been living in Honduras for a week and a half now, so it’s about time I share with you back home!

Every day has been looking different here. Some days we teach lessons to children at school, some days we make mud bricks for a house, some days we visit a local widow, some days we take a pick-axe to the dirt in order to make a soccer field, and every day we cook lots and lots of food for children at the neighboring schools. So, I have decided to share some photos!

This month we are living in Valle de Angeles, a small tourist town in the mountains of Honduras. It is beautiful here. There is green everywhere and the views are incredible! Pictures don’t do it justice.

Our hosts are David and Scarleth Jones– a missionary couple who are in their mid-twenties. David is from Texas, and moved with his parents to Valle de Angeles when he was 13 years old. Scarleth is native to the valley. It is fun to have hosts that are the same age as I am. They have a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and they are a lot of fun. Scarleth speaks english very well, but she speaks Spanish to us in order to help us improve. I really appreciate that. David is as happy as a clam to have other Americanas around. (One of our first “ministries” here was to make bags for Cornhole!) Both David and Scarleth have shared amazing stories with us about how God has blessed them, and others around them.

The Jones have four young adults (who they have known since their childhood) come help them with cooking, cleaning, and also participating in outside ministry. Scarleth’s older brother has also been around to help with whatever they need. I have been enjoying getting to know each of them. They are so kind, funny, and so full of life, despite their hardships. It amazes me how much they invest in getting to know us–even though they could easily brush us off as “just another team coming through”

This month has been full of manual labor, children, new friendships, strengthening team Rayos, and diving more into my relationship with the Lord. My muscles are feeling it, but there is so much joy here–I can’t remember the last time I have laughed so much.

This past week the Lord has been reminding me that, even though I am here to do ministry, life is less about what I “do”, and more about what He has already done. Jesus says in Luke 10:20, “However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Even in doing God’s work, it can be easy to loose sight of what is really important.

I am so thankful to be here in Honduras, for the people I am with, and that the Lord has chosen to reveal Himself to me. Month 3 has it’s struggles, but it is a great one, and I am soaking up every day.
