Two months from now I will be on my way to El Salvador! While that may seem like a long time to some people, I can hardly believe it is ONLY two months away. Last year around this time I was researching the Race, overwhelmed by the feeling that dropped over me saying, “I could do this. I’m going to do this. This is for me“. From the moment I saw the countries listed on the Spanish Route, something inside of me knew this is where I was supposed to be. And here I am one year later, after some big crisis’ and some smaller ones, after doubts and belief, plans and ‘just wingin’ it’, this dream that The Lord placed in my heart is coming together in every way.
Every day I am amazed at His love for me. I’m not sure why it surprises me every time He comes through—He always does—but lately it seems that every single day I receive a new gift from Him, and it’s amazing. He takes care of my every need, and even throws in some most of my wants. He reminds me that I am His; made in His image—beautiful, special, and amazing. He is my provider, protector, lover, and friend. He is my joy.
Sometimes this Race feels intimidating. The closer I get to launch, the more it begins to sink in. It’s a big commitment—a year away from what I know. But it’s my calling, and I’m going for it. He chose me. In Him I have a lot to offer. In Him I am strong. There is work to be done for His kingdom and He has a list just for me (and you know how I love my lists!).
I am so thankful for this journey that I am about to take, but I am also thankful for the life He gives me today. I have three amazing jobs working with incredible people (bosses, coworkers, children, guests, etc.), I have a beautiful little apartment, a puppy who gives me more love than I can handle sometimes, and a huge list of friends and family who connect with me on a weekly basis. Basically, I am one happy girl! Thank you to everyone who has been praying me through this past year—I wouldn’t be here without you.
