Hello sweet friends and family! I am stoked to be able to update you about this past month and how God has been so good to me. My team and I (6 girls in total) travel from our compound to a care point five days a week to share the love of Jesus to His precious children. Everyday looks different. Whether it’s serving the children food or teaching them a class about Jesus’s love or playing soccer for half of the day. No matter what I am doing i can truly see Jesus everyday in these sweet faces and in the joy and love i feel surrounded by. There are kids from age 2 to age 26 that come and join us for the day. It is completely optional but many come to play, hear about Jesus and of course eat free meals prepared my the GoGos (elder African ladies). Something that opened my eyes is i witnessed 2 year olds walking from there home all alone. These children have to grow up so dang fast but it is beautiful when i see their smiles and hear their laughs because even though they come from rough homes or poverty they will not let that stop their joy. My team has two shepherds that are in charge of these care points a woman named Cebelia and a man named Mtobisi. I have never met two people more passionate or loving towards kids. These kids have nothing but still are so determined and joyful. They know their worth through Jesus Christ. My days are filled with hugs from literally every every child, sweet smiling faces, tag, and most importantly seeing Jesus in every direction i turn and every face I see WHAT A BLESSING! One experience that completely opened my eyes was when my team and I brought food to a grandmother who had to watch after 7 of her grandchildren because her children all passed away. She told us she didn’t know if she would be able to have had a meal to eat if we wouldn’t have brought over food. Her bags of rice were empty, she had not even a crumb of food. But oh my goodness how she kept praising the Lord trusting Him with all of her heart saying “He always provides”. I think many of us including myself take for granted our many blessings. We are so easy to blame the Lord if we don’t get our way. Looking at her circumstances made me really think on how could i be even slightly ungrateful for even a second while she praised even through her empty stomach and worry. To be able to serve such an amazing woman like her brought so much wisdom and filled my heart with joy. Only God gives us opportunities like these, open up your heart.
