The past couple of night the ladies of Fire Starters were Tia's at the girls home we are serving this month. Tia means aunt, and a respect title. When the girls first found out we were gonna be Tia's they were excited because that meant party every night!! Well….so they thought! Mama Penny and Mama Lauren (our mother and daughter ministry contacts) explained to us and the girls the schedule was to be followed and we could have another pj party Friday night if everything went smoothly.
Bed Time (8:30 pm): Went fairly smooth. At bedtime the girls were kind of crazy and tried testing us and didn't want to go to bed, but it wasn't too hard to get them in their beds. There were a few tears, because the team from Kansas and Mama Penny and Mama Lauren left earlier in the day to head back to the states.
4:45 am: That might have been one of the shortest nights in my life!! One of the girls was already up. She had already cooked breakfast and was washing her clothes. She didn't sleep much because she was upset from telling the teams goodbye. (One thing I am dreading is saying goodbye. These kids have already experienced so much abandonment, that saying goodbye for them is like they are being abandoned all over.) It was easy to get the girls up. (Thankful now for that early bedtime!!)
7:00 am: The girls are in school and I'm ready for a nap! LOL!! Before school they have chores to do, devotionals, breakfast, and showers to take. Now that they are in school we begin our devotionals, showers, etc.
11:00 am- School is out! Lunch is served and the rest of the day is full of free time, study time and chores.
4:00 pm: I learn how to make tortilla's and help flip them with my bare hands over the fire 🙂 (Professional tortilla making is not in my future!)
6:00 pm- Dinner
7:00 pm: Group devotionals with the girls
8:00 pm: Start heading to bed
8:30 pm: Lights out
9:15 pm (roughly): Popping popcorn with Sarah and Kaitlyn in the kitchen. SCREAM AND RUN!!! Largest RAT I've ever seen!!! Wake up 4 girls who just laugh at us when we tell them while we were screaming.
4:45 am: Wake up with no power….do it all again.
7:00 am (roughly): Realize for the first time in my life that electricity really is a luxury. Life goes on without it.
Love these girls more than I ever thought would be possible. Thank you God for our ministry this month, and thank you for these girls!!
