Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet, on earth but yours.
Your are the eyes through which He looks
Compassion on this world
Yours are the feet
With which He walks to do good.
Your are the hands
With which He blesses all the world
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet.
Yours are the eyes, you are His body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours
Yours are the eyes, through which He Looks
compassion on the world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila
It seems the main reoccurring focus of this month (the beginning of this month specifically) has been, we are the hands and feet of Jesus. Serving Him where ever we go, however we are able. All month I have had this unsettling feeling about there is more to being the body of Christ than just being the hands and feet of Jesus. So I started searching for where in the Bible it actually says that we are the hands and feet but I couldn't pin point an actual verse that says this. (Please correct me if I am wrong!!)
I have spent the entire time we have been in Guatemala praying that God would reveal to me what my role is here. What is the point of me being here, am I only the hands and feet or is there really more? Reveal to me what this unsettling feeling is. And God answered this prayer last Monday morning when I woke up, (I am a slow processor and needed this week to process what He spoke to me). I woke up was this thought, "You are more than hands and feet. You are my eyes and mouth."
Feet– take us to the airport, down the road, to the homeless shelter, to the nursing home, to the orphanage. Perhaps our feet are the most important part of our body. It all starts with the FIRST STEP of obedience to serving. We use our feet to kick a ball with the orphans, we use our feet to push the wheelchair outside so the sick can feel the sun on their face and the cool breeze on their skin.
Hands– serve, feed the hungry, pick up liter, give hugs to people who might not get them often, hand out bottles of water on a hot summer day, wash the feet of a little child or elderly woman. We can talk to a deaf person using sign language. Our hands can do so much when we surrender them to Christ's work.

Eyes– show us where to go, show us who needs to hear they are loved and not forgotten. We are the eyes for the blind when we help them walk down the street. Our eyes can offer hope, joy and love to people who look into them. Right now my eyes are the eyes of my supporters, prayer warriors, and encouragers. You have believed in God's call on my life and have sent me to be your eyes in the world. I relay back to you through pictures and blogs what I am seeing and witnessing. Our eyes show us the prayer needs around us.

Mouth– there is power in our tongue. Even if you have never been to church in your entire life you know how harmful or uplifting and encouraging a persons words can be. We can use our mouth to share Christ's love, encourage, pray, and speak life over others. God can use us and speak through us, with His message to the world. We can sing songs with a child, read a book with an elderly lady at the nursing home. We don't even have to speak-we can share a smile with someone having a bad day.
