We left for the airport in Chicago at 7:45 Saturday morning. L-squad as the first squad to actually launch, so that was pretty exciting. When you are traveling in a group of 30 something people (we split into 2 groups) it takes a while to get through check-in, last minute ditching stuff for people over 50lbs, security and finding our gate. Our group flew to Miami, and the other group flew through Dallas.

Meet Marco, this amazing man of God greeted us at the airport in Guatemala City! He was so excited to see us!!! His sister (I think that’s the connection) flew from Los Angeles where she currently lives to open up her home in Guatemala City for us to stay in our first night in the country. She greeted us at 10:30 local time (12:30 am in NC) with a delicious looking meal. I watched everyone eat a home cooked-chicken, rice, broccoli, something else that was white and bread. (Side note here-I took an emergency visit to the dentist on Friday before we flew out on Saturday and had 2 teeth pulled because of an abscess). So I ate bread. It was delicious!
Before we ate, Marco had a message for everyone back at home…YOU GUYS!!! He said to thank all my supporters, and prayer partners for sending me! He has prayed for months for us to come, and he has also prayed for the people who have made it possible for me to be in Guatemala City! He welcomed us into their house, because their house is God’s house so it is open to His children. Marco was absolutely amazing; God’s love shined all over him and poured out on us.
We had morning worship on the roof of the house. Singing “God of this City” out over the city of Guatemala on one side and a HUGE volcano on the other side, was powerful. The Spirit moved, and God’s Spirit is all over Guatemala the city, and the country. Looking into the eyes of Guatemalan’s there is a sad, hopelessness-but God created this country and God is bringing revival to this country!! There is hope in the one and only true God of the universe.

We finally made it to our ministry site for the month. 33 ½ hours of travel time (I’ve been told this will most likely be the shortest travel day I have). Agape In Action Hospital compound, in Santa Cruz, Guatemala will be my home for the next month. We are sleeping in our tents this month. It’s actually pretty cold here (low 60s). Found out tonight that our specific ministry this month for Fire Starters will be “Unsong Heros”. This is a new project that our CEO, Seth Barnes has been praying and developing over the past few months. I’m not sure about the specific details of it yet…so more to come!!

This is how we travel….
Miss you but excited about what God has done, is doing, and is going to do!! Internet this month is from a café in the city so I will apologize in advance for lack of updates. Love you all!!!
