Yes, I know it is only the middle of October HOWEVER Christmas is just around the corner!!! Before I left the states, stores were already putting out Christmas decorations which I think is insane!! Yesterday we went shopping for groceries and one of the stores we went into had started putting up Christmas trees.  This seems even crazier to me since the heat index is close to a 100 if not over daily.  I won't be seeing a white Christmas this year for sure!!

I realize now more than ever before how much material "stuff" I have.  When I left for the race I thought I had abandoned a lot.  I felt like 50 lbs for 1 year was never going to be enough!  How would I survive?!?  The night before I left home I set in front of my pack trying to decide what to take out and what to leave, I'm pretty sure I was crying over those decisions.  I've been on the field for a little over a month and realize how much of my "stuff" is really is just stuff.  I have found I don't NEED half the stuff I brought.  And as for the "stuff" I packed up in boxes before I left….I'm ready to get rid of it all.  (This isn't just culture shock, God revealed a lot of this to me while I was in India last year but I came back to America and just continued in my ways).

One of the projects I am working on this month with our ministry contact, Lauren is taking pictures and getting as much information as possible of the kids at the orphanage, girls homes, and the feeding stations in hopes of finding sponsors to purchase their school uniforms for next year.  (The school year runs differently than in the states).

This year I won't be home for Christmas (and yep I am singing Christmas carols in my head as I write this).  Even though I won't be physically present for Christmas this year, I still have a wish….please sponsor one of these beautiful children I am working with this month.  Give them the gift of school clothes!!

Please email me if you are interest in sponsoring a child.  The internet here is not fast enough for me to upload pictures onto my blog, but I will be more than happy to email you more information!!
