I am a carrier of the Divine Presence.
My body is the arc of the covenant, a temple, a dwelling place.
In me the Holy Spirit resides. He has made His home in me.
I want you to read this paragraph again. But this time don’t just read the words to understand. Read the words to feel their impact, their power, their purpose.
Now let it sink in.
Let it resonant.
Because this isn’t just my identity.
If you are a born again believer, this is yours too.
This has been a truth that the Lord has really been planting in me these past 8 months.
That this is where my identity is rooted: in the authority that I get to carry as His daughter.
Most people have heard the infamous passage of 1 Corinthians 6:19 where Paul states that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. But have you ever really thought about the comparison he is making here? That similar to how the temples were built with an outer court, inner court and the arc safely tucked inside the Holy of Holies, our bodies are comparable.
Outer court: our physical bodies
Inner court: our mind, emotions and soul
Arc of the Covenant: Holy Spirit
[Mark Marx at the Vineyard Church in Coleraine, Ireland]
But after Jesus’ death, the curtain was split. The division was no more. The Holy of Holies was no longer for just the priest but for all. We became the temple.
We now carry the Presence.
We have His authority.
And now, where we go, He goes. Where we walk, He walks. Every time we step, we are bringing God’s kingdom because He is in us. We have kingdom authority because we are a part of Him.
“Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.” 1 Corinthians 6:17
When we step into a room, we change the atmosphere of the environment just because of the very presence residing in us. Darkness has to flee.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians 2:20
And we get to be children of God and coheirs with Christ, sharing in one spirit.
No longer slaves but sons and daughters.
No longer hopeless sinners but saints.
No longer peasants but royal priesthood.
We are heirs to the throne.
“…that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’ So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:6-7
As children, let us walk in this authority. In the confidence that we are heirs to the throne, sons and daughters of the King and have His power in us.
We get to be His carriers.
Wow.
