Vic Falls is the THIRD Wonder of the World that I have had the priviledge of seeing in my life so far!
All I can literally say is WOW and if you can get there to visit; DO IT, it is WORTH the crazy traveling and expense!
My teammate McKenzie and I did the walking tour of the Falls which gave some historical background and provided us with SO many breath-taking views and it wasn’t even at its stongest capacity! We literally would just stare at the next spot and think that it was more beautiful than the previous lookout spot. We just kept thanking God for His amazing Creation and just stared in AWE at it!
We took some pictures, but they honestly will NEVER do it justice. If you’ve been, you know what I’m talking about! My team and I decided to do white water rafting on the Zambezi River. If you think white water rafting in America is intense, you have NO IDEA what it was like on the Zambezi! It was amazing and terrifying all at once. About halfway through I was moved upfront to one of the “power” spots and who dictates the paddling pattern/tempo for the raft. It was super hard and tiring, but so fun. Also watching these gigantic waves rise up above and then crash right into your face is exhilarating. I was the only person in our raft (besides our guide) not to be thrown out of the raft; however, I did have 3 close calls where I literally held onto anything in the boat for dear life, with all of my might to avoid being sucked into the water. I am still 4-4 on white water rafting trips and not falling in unless, you could get out and float the rapid – that I ALWAYS do!
After our long but amazing day out on the River, we went on a “sundowner,” cruise where we sat on a boat and tried to find willdlife before anchoring down and watching the beautiful sunset. We all were SO tired, but loved it! We saw a little croc, a bunch of hippos (amazing), and a giraffe. It was such a great night spent together.
After the cruise, Alyssa and I hung out at the hostel, ate french fries, and met an awesome couple from the States who we enjoyed chatting with for hours. Kaiti, McKenzie, and Jessica all went out for Thai food then came back to the hostel afterwards (Becca stayed back at the camp to have some much needed introvert/alone time with God to refresh herself). Early the next morning, we hopped back on a bus back to Bulawayo to meet up with the rest of the squd.
It was an AMAZING trip, so short (and expensive) but so worth it! Victoria Falls, what a beaut you are!
