Hello everyone! DISCLAIMER I had to “mispell” words or put numbers in words so if ‘NaMm decides to google search my blog doesn’t come up and we get “busted.”
I hope all is well with everyone! I just wanted to share a cute story from my time in the mountains in Nepal! I had not really been homesick all that much while on the World Race. I really hadn’t felt it since the first 2 weeks in India!
Anyway, Saturday, March 4th started out pretty typical day for the mountain. I had slept in Allie’s tent and woke up to the cool, crisp, mountain air. She went for a run and I got dressed/ready for the day. We then were given this “coffee/tea” drink and “doughnuts.” After”breakfast” Allie and I went out to the field that was kind of a cliff that overlooked some of mountains, a very popular spot amongst our group for our “Amad” time. I had brought with me the letter that was dated March 4 and said “To Megan, Somewhere in the World,” I had NO idea who it was from.
I open it, and inside is a card, with a lot of writing and a picture from the previous March’s “Adult Fell0wship Ret7eat,” weekend on the Ocean City NJ boardwalk. I instantly started crying, because it was the first ret7eat I have missed in 4 years. Those weekends have grown to be 2 of my favorite weekends out of the whole year! I was also crying because just a flood of emotion hit me about how much I missed my chu7ch family. I would not be on the Race without their love and support. MISS YOU SCOTTSVILLE UMC! (Miss you a lot too Mrs. Walker) I then began telling Allie all about my chu7ch family and these weekends and thanked her for letting me cry to her.
I finished up my time with Je5us and then we got ready for chu7ch. In Nepal, chu7ch is on Saturday. We then grabbed our seats and began w0rship. Throughout the service, I kept making eye-contact with a little boy, we would lock eyes, smile, and he would giggle and look away. This went on and on over the course of the 2 hour chu7ch service. After chu7ch, I walked up to the boy and his friend and gave them high-fives. Then, a few of us ended up pray1ng over this boy’s mother, him, and his sister. It was totally a G0d thing. After pray1ng, a little girl sat with me and started skimming through my B1ble. The boy and his friend came over and started talking to me. Their English was very good too! I learned their names, for the sake of privacy we’ll call the boy K and his friend S! K and S were 12 years old and just adorable. I ended up talking with them for the next 20 minutes until it was time for the group to head out to a youth event!
I said goodbye to the boys, told them to come back and talk to me later in the day, and got myself together for the event! While I was getting ready, the boys asked their mother’s if they could come with us to the event and their mother’s said they could! I was so excited because they were filling my homesickness hole in my heart and they were so sweet and wanted to continue talking to me.
While walking, K did most of the talking to me and it was very pleasant. Both boys were very protective over me and did not stray far away from me at all. K kept wanting me to eat my crackers and I finally did, but of course at a time when we were about to start moving again. The pa5tor asked if we were ready to go and K very boldly and respectfully said,” when she finishes eating we’ll leave.” It was very sweet. During the event, I was not able to sit next to my boys (who I started referring to as my 12 year old best friends lol). I kept looking over at them though to make sure they were okay.
After the event, the boys followed me every where, even when I went to the rest room, they hung out nearby so they could see me when I came out haha! We all were given a snack and then we started making our way back. Along the way we were told to pick out some snacks. I bought my boys each a juice and an ice-cream. They were so sweet and didn’t want to accept it at first, but then they did. We then had to get on the bus and they somehow got on the bus before me. They got a seat together and waved for me to come sit with them; unfortunately, I couldn’t make it back to them so I stood in the aisle and once more people got off, I was able to squeeze in with them. On the bus I asked if they could be my “little Nepali brothers” since I was missing my little brother a lot and K said, “yes and that I was their older American sister.” He was seriously the cutest thing.
We got off the bus and he walked me back to our “house.” He then went home. A few hours later he surprised me and came back and we played a little bit together trying to build playing card houses.
This day was totally a gift from Papa and it filled me so much. I am a little sad writing this though because after this day I only saw S one more time and I never saw K again. Regardless, I am still SO thankful for that day!

I am SO sorry at the quality of this picture. Taking a picture of a polaroid proved to be rather difficult! Thanks Jord for taking this wonderful picture that I get to keep forever though!
