My, how a year changes things!
In just a year my life was turned, tipped, upside-down in all of the right ways!
I was challenged, cried a lot, but experienced the best love and care I have ever received from people and children from all corners of the world!
January 9, 2017: Atlanta, Ga at LAUNCH for the World Race surrounded by my squad, leadership, and family members!
Me and Jim before saying goodbye! Team It Is Goode in the hotel in ATL
I remember feeling an absolute swell of emotions, all over the place! I was about to embark on an absolutely incredible year, pursuing the Lord on an even deeper level than ever before and following His call to the nations that He first placed on my heart at the age of 19! I remember feeling super sad to leave my friends and family and essentially everything I knew about life behind in America as I traveled the world and explored beautiful people and cultures that I had only read about up to that point! I was excited and a little nervous, sad but overjoyed all at once! It was quite a time!
Fast forward to 11 months later! I returned to the JFK airport to find my family waiting for me!
November 20th, 2017: It was quite the reunion!
And then flash forward 6 weeks later, we find ourselves at January 9th, 2018!
I am in Gainesville, Ga at the Adventures In Missions (AIM) base with my beloved S Squad for our final final debrief; PSL (Project SearchLight), The Official End of The World Race!
Team It is Goode represented at PSL! #SSquadBestSquad at PSL, Gainesville, Ga
Once again, crazy feelings! I did not process anything at all in the first 6 weeks, and IT WAS HARD. A lot harder than I thought it would be. Lots of fear, anxiety, doubts, insecurities crept right back in where they left off when I left for the Race. I did make strides in these areas while on the Race, but I needed to learn how to continue to battle these unnatural feelings back home too, without being surrounded by my beautiful S Squad family! I looked forward to PSL to start getting back to the Megan Leigh Smith, our Abba Father created/intended me to be!
What a journey this past year was; internally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and all around the world too! The World Race was just the prologue of my story, now chapter 1 begins!
