It is with great excitement that after many years of praying, wishing, and waiting, that God has granted one of my dreams. Beginning in January of 2017 I will be a missionary for the World Race, which is a branch of Adventures in Missions!
Those who know me, know that this has been a long time coming, about 8 years to be exact. I am happy to announce that along with 40ish other young adults we will travel to 11 countries in 11 months. We are all very excited and have been communicating with each other in a Facebook group page! The countries that we will be going to are:
India
Nepal
Thailand
Cambodia
Vietnam
Greece
Bulgaria
Macedonia
Botswana
Swaziland
South Africa
I am very excited but there is still so much to be done! I need to raise $17,017 in order to be able to go on this once in a lifetime adventure. Aside from financial support, I also need PRAYERS! Prayers are what got me to this point, and prayers are what I’ll need for the rest of the journey(my team need prayers too)!
I am inserting my fundraising letter for you to read! I could never thank you enough if you decide to support me and my exciting journey!
If you are writing a check and sending it to me please make it out to Adventures in Missions with Megan Smith on the memo line.

Dear : 3/28/2016
For the past few years I have spent my time being the youth director at my church, a job coach, coaching volleyball, a camp counselor/director, a co-leader for a Bible study, and currently a teacher amongst all of the other activities I am involved in. However, I have always felt that I was meant to do more. Something was missing and I was not sure what that was, until very recently.
When I was 16 years old I went on my first mission trip with my church and it changed my life. A heart for missions developed inside of me and for the next few years I continued to go on mission trips, even throughout my college career. Ever since I was 19 years old, I felt the calling to be a missionary in Africa. While in college I even pursued a missionary opportunity; however, it was not time for me to go. I was not ready to go yet.
This past winter God really spoke to me and told me it was time for a change. I had decided that I was either going to be a missionary or go to Seminary, but I was not sure which one God wanted me to do. I was on the Internet one day researching mission opportunities and stumbled across The World Race, (WR) which is a program that is part of the organization, Adventures in Missions (AIM). As soon as I began reading about the WR I knew it was what I was being called to do. The next few weeks were a blur – applying, interviewing, and getting accepted into the route I wanted, which leaves in January 2017.
“The World Race is a stretching journey into 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. This unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom,“ (www.worldrace.org). While on the race, my team and I will be working in communities doing a variety of things such as but not limited to, construction, working in orphanages, teaching English, door to door evangelism, healings, helping run church services, ministering to those who have been involved in human trafficking and prostitution, and spreading the hope and Love that comes from our Father to everyone we cross paths with.
I will face many challenges throughout my journey leading up to and while on the WR. As I prepare for my departure in January one of the greatest challenges I have to face is raising financial support. Like most missionary organizations, I need to fundraise the full amount for my trip. In order to be able to participate in the WR and leave in January, I need to raise $17,017. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider joining me in a one-time donation, a monthly gift, or prayerfully supporting me as well as my team?
I will contact you in a few days to answer any questions you might have. You can also visit my blog at megansmith.theworldrace.org to find out more about me and follow my journey. Thank you!
Yours in Christ,
Megan
